Your Science Fair Rubrics
All in One place!
Rubrics are great! They let you know what is expected. Rubrics make it clear what is expected for each project. They also help you see that learning is about gaining specific skills. Finally, Rubrics give you the opportunity to do self-assessment to reflect on what you do well and where you still need to improve.
You can view these rubrics right here, but you are encouraged to print out a copy. Keep it by your side as you work on each stage of your science fair.

This is the report you wrote last month. It will be one section of your final project report. You may improve this report before you insert it into your final report.
Before scientists start any experiment they first research everything they can about the topic. They work to understand all the variables that could affect the experiment. They especially want to know about the manipulated variable and the responding variable. Most scientists tell others about their experiments by writing journal articles. Your final report will have all the features of a journal article. These articles cover each stage of the scientific method. It allows other scientists to learn from them. It also allows others to duplicate their work to point out errors.
Most of this work has already been completed by now. Just copy this from what you have already submitted. |
Scientists often present their findings at conferences on display boards. This is where you will summarize everything you learned on a single display board.
Your display needs to be both informative and attractive. It will be a challenge to clearly summarize all the needed information on your board. Don't glue or write on the board until you are sure everything has a place.
Scientists also give presentations about their findings. When they do this they use a slide show. You can use your display board. Everything you need to share should be on your board. Use it as your note cards.
Public speaking is an important skill. The presentation is only 3 - 5 minutes long. Still, you will need to practice your presentation. Don't forget that you will need to answer questions from the audience afterwards. |
